The performances by the crowd-pleasing Fred, the previous year's second-place winner, are hysterically amusing and sophisticated, while other groups bring a more traditional sound. A mini-class on barbershop harmony is presented for the cameras, and scenes from the convention are intercut with the onstage drama, complete with a sweet surprise ending.
